Crux of the Matter

Bridging Health by Burning Bridges The app’s main motive is to keep a live track on the number of coronavirus cases and community transmissions. The most important feature of the app is that it will keep live monitoring and trace of travel history along with the health record of an individual under quarantine. As per the Government, Aarogya Setu uses the live location and Bluetooth-based proximity to keep track of an individual. Personal details of users are strictly secured and can’t be accessed by the public. This application can be operated in 11 languages.

Once installed in a smartphone through an easy and user-friendly process, the app detects other devices with AarogyaSetu installed that come in the proximity of that phone. The app can then calculate the risk of infection based on sophisticated parameters if any of these contacts are tested positive. Indian Government

Paving Path for Digital Medicine Currently, India ranks 145 out of 160 in Healthcare Access and Quality Index. To uplift the health standards of the Medical Facilities of the Country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India (MoHFW) initiated policy action towards enhancing the use of digital technology in healthcare. National Digital Health Blueprint 2.0 released in January 2020 focuses on the development of the digital health ecosystem in the nation. The digital health ecosystem will include methods of treatment like Telemedicine and Digital Therapeutics and Diagnostics. To work on digital treatment one country needs solid infrastructure to store the data collected from a human being. The total data generated from the whole life of an individual occupy around 1,100 terabytes. Thus large tech-giants like Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon have announced various projects related to research on the implementation and development of digital Health care. Digital National Health Blueprint will help to understand problems better at the international levels, as nowadays health matter is no longer country’s internal problem.

Digital medicine is a category of pharmaceuticals which combines a prescription medication with an ingestible sensor component. Digital medicines are designed to communicate to mobile and/or web-based applications that a patient has taken a specific dose of medication at a certain time. Because of the ingestible sensor component and association with prescription pharmaceuticals, products in this category require regulatory oversight and clinical validation. Digital medicine aims to improve pharmaceutical therapy by improving patient adherence. More Info
