All-Party Meeting Held Ahead of Winter Session of the Parliament

Government has announced Winter session of the parliament from 18th November to 13th December which will comprise of 20 sittings. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla held an all-party meeting on 17th November to ensure smooth functioning of the parliament without disruptions and deadlocks.


Crux of the Matter


  1. 27 Bills will be taken up for introduction, consideration and passing. 2 Bills replacing Ordinances are required to be passed during the ensuing Winter Session.

  2. The leaders of all the political parties raised a number of issues during the meeting after which a consensus was emerged to resolve all conflicts through constructive discussions in both the houses.

  3. Ahead of the all-party meet; the BJP’s executive meeting took place which was followed by the meeting of the NDA.

  4. Major points of discussions will be the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, economic slowdown, unemployment and the Citizenship bill.

  5. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi said, “the Government is always ready to discuss on the floor of the both the Houses of Parliament, any issue as permitted under Rules of Procedure and sought the co-operation of all the party for the smooth functioning of the House.”
