When government does something right I support them. Many of my colleagues opposed the decision to abrogate Article370, my party has lost its way, it’s not the same Congress it used to be. When it comes to patriotism and self-respect, I’ll not compromise with anyone.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda (ex-CM of Haryana, Congress)
Crux of the Matter
The BJP government recently abrogated Article 370 to end Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and integrate it with India.
The resolution was supported by a majority in both houses of the parliament and was supported by many opposition as well as neutral parties.
Congress’ official stance in parliament has been to oppose the government’s moves. But many leaders of the party have opposed their party line in an individual capacity.
Given the backdrop of Congress’ miserable election performance in recent times, dissension within the party has become more vocal and transparent.
