Coronavirus has continued its disruption across the globe. Some attribute the extent of the virus spread to globalization. With many countries curbing visas and narrowing their immigration policy outlook, are the world nations moving towards a new form of globalization in which a nation’s self-importance is weighed similarly as its openness? On a different note, the lockdown has shown the Media & Entertainment industry unprecedented times. It seems that the audience these days is forming a habit of OTT platforms, online gaming, etc. whereas traditional media like newspapers and cinemas are bearing the burden of COVID-19. Elon Musk has a history of shooting his own feet. He had once been barred by the US SEC of talking publicly about Tesla’s financials. But, recently he tweeted that in his opinion Tesla’s stock seemed overvalued and it followed a stock plunge of nearly 8-10%. The ‘Bois Locker Room’ incident has sparked a new controversy around cyberbullying as well. Given that the admins of the above mentioned Instagram group chat were juveniles, it becomes the utmost responsibility of us to look at what kind of influence they are under and what kind of system they are part of. Some analysts suggest that most of the kids do not share that they are being bullied online. Some measures like informative movies, talks, and some level of monitoring of social media activity of minors may become the first step towards the change. Here’s a quick roundup of our analyses on major stories from India and across the globe this week. Click the Stories to know more.
