Hyperloop in India: Punjab Signing for Pod Transport After Maharashtra

The hyperloop transport project in Punjab has received a green signal from the government. The Rs. 56,000 crore agreement is expected to be signed with Hyperloop One in the coming month. The proposed routes, for now, are Chandigarh-Amritsar, and Chandigarh-Delhi.
Crux of the Matter
The Hyperloop proposal got sanctioned by the transport and finance department, and then also received the green signal from the Chief Minister.
The proposed route of Amritsar to Chandigarh will be then covered in around 30 minutes. The travel speed of the passenger vehicle would be 1,100 – 1,300 km per hour.
This project will be undertaken jointly by the companies, Virgin Hyperloop One and UAE’s DP World.
The expected date of the beginning of the project is 2021 after feasibility checks have been performed.
