India has become the first country in the world where the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca Hajj, will be entirely through a digital process. ‘The Haj 2020 agreement’ between India and Saudi Arabia was signed on December 1 2019.
Crux of the Matter
The agreement marks a milestone in the relationship between the two countries.
The Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and The Haj and Umrah Ministers of Saudi Arabia along with Dr.Muhammad Saleh bin Taher Benten were present to sign the agreement.
A mobile app, “E-MASIHA” has been launched for Online application, E-Visa, Haj m-health facilities, E-luggage pre-tagging.
Haj Group Organisers are connected with a 100% digital system to ensure transparency in their functioning.
The app also will provide all information regarding accommodation & transportation in Makkah-Madinah.
The SIM card of Haj pilgrims will be linked to the Haj mobile app to enable pilgrims to receive the latest updates on the go.
To provide information for the Hajj, 100 telephone line information centres have been launched at Haj House, Mumbai in the year 2019
Nearly 2 lakh Indian Muslims are expected to perform Haj without any subsidy in the year 2020.
