India Cements Ties with Bhutan during Modi Visit

On his second trip to Bhutan, PM Modi reiterated Bhutan’s special status as India’s friend. 10 MoUs were signed in fields such as education, IT, space and power. RuPay card was also launched in Bhutan.

Bhutan-India Relationship – The bilateral relations between the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan and the Republic of India have been traditionally close and both countries share a ‘special relationship’, making Bhutan a protected state, but not a protectorate, of India. India remains influential over Bhutan’s foreign policy, defence and commerce.
