Zakir Musa’s Terror group, Ansar Gazwat Ul-Hind has officially been terminated by the Indian Army. Zakir Musa’s successor, Abdul Hameed Lehari was identified as one of the three terrorists killed in the Awantipora encounter.
Crux of the Matter
Lehari was appointed commander of Ansar Gazwat Ul-Hind after Zakir Musa was gunned down this June.
The strike was conducted after tips from local police of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ansar Gazwat Ul-Hind, the Kashmiri branch of Al-Qaeda, had reportedly been in contact with Pakistan based Jaish-e- Mohammed.
“The AGH has been wiped out but some elements who are overground workers are there, they suddenly crop up and join militant ranks. But as of now, the AGH has been wiped out from Kashmir,” quoted the Police Chief of Jammu and Kashmir.
Curiopedia
Zakir Musa was a former Hizbul Mujahideen commander (2013–17), and founder of an Indian wing of Al-Qaeda called Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in 2017. Musa split with the political objectives of the Hizbul Mujahideen for Kashmir, in favour of Al-Qaeda’s religious objectives of imposing Sharia in the region. When he was killed by Indian security forces in May 2019, he was known as “India’s most wanted militant”. More Info
