E-retailing Reality For Kiranas? Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT) are envisioning an e-commerce platform for small retailers and local grocers. This platform is aimed at benefitting nearly 7 crore traders. This e-commerce platform will ensure “last mile contactless delivery” and would be equipped with a digital payment system. Startup India, Avana Capital, Invest India, All India Consumer Products Distributors Federations, etc. will assist CAIT and DPIIT in developing the platform. Supply chain players active at the manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, and consumer level will be a part of the process from end-to-end – from placing Kirana orders to delivering them. Almost all items traded under India’s domestic trade are expected to be sold via this platform.
