Israel has expressed gratitude toward US President Donald Trump’s administration for its statement that the American government would never again consider the West Bank Jewish settlements “conflicting” with the worldwide law.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday declared the new decision which changed Washington’s stand on the issue.
Pompeo disavowed a 1978 State Department lawful conclusion that held that regular citizen settlements in the involved domains are “conflicting with worldwide law”.
He stressed that it should not be seen as US playing favorites.”This is for the Israelis and the Palestinians to negotiate.” , he said.
This has been received favorably by Israel and has angered the Palestinians.

Israeli settlements are civilian communities inhabited by Israeli citizens, almost exclusively of Jewish ethnicity, built on lands occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War.
