For the heinous murder of Washington Post columnist and Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi court has announced death sentence to 5 culprits and 24 years of imprisonment to 3 of them. Three people, who are said to be close aides of Saudi Prince Salman, were released free.

For the murder of Jamal Khashoggi at Instanbul consulate, the Saudi court’s verdict has sentenced 5 perpetrators to death. Defenders have the right to appeal against the preliminary verdict.
The Saudi prosecutor said that the murder of Khashoggi was not pre-planned, rather a spurious decision. The final verdict of the Saudi Court contends the final reports of the CIA and other international investigation agencies.
Internationally active human-rights groups and activists have questioned the transparency of the hearings.
“When Saudis sentence five to death for Khashoggi’s murder, we fear that it is a way to silence them forever and to conceal the truth…,” tweeted the Secretary-General of Reporters Without Borders.
