Key Meeting on Air Pollution Cancelled As Officials Didn’t Turn Up

A crucial meeting to tackle the issue of air pollution in New Delhi was called by the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Urban Development on 15th November. The meeting was called off as several key officials failed to be present for the meeting.


Crux of the Matter


  1. Along with the MP’s of Delhi; officials from MCD, DDA and the Environment ministry failed to attend the meeting.

  2. Aam Aadmi Party put out a tweet showcasing BJP MP Gautam Gambhir enjoying in Indore. Later, Gambhir also replied giving his explanation and accusing AAP of putting false acquisitions.

  3. YSRCP’s Adala Prabhakara Reddy cited party meeting as a reason for his absence

  4. BJP’s YS Chowdhary missed the meeting due to miscommunication.

  5. Union Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar said, “We are always very serious about pollution. I have emphasised that pollution is not a problem faced only by Delhi. I have ordered a joint action plan and the teams are working on it,”
