
Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) identified and confirmed a malware attack in one of its computers last month at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
Crux of the Matter
Government’s CERT-In department notified about the malware on September 4 after which an immediate investigation was probed by the department of atomic energy specialists.
Investigation confirmed that the plant systems are not affected.
It is believed to be done by a North Korean hacking group.
After the attack, the networks are being continuously monitored.
NPCIL designs, constructs and runs 22 nuclear power reactors in the country.
