Militants Attack Niger's Army Camp

Hundreds of militants in a large scale attack targeted the Niger’s Army Camp adjacent to the Mali border. The spokesperson for the Defense Ministry of Niger informed that 71 of military personnel were martyred and 12 have been injured in the fierce attack.


Crux of the Matter


  1. It is suspected that the terrorists attacked the army camp with mortar. This attack was carried out on a large scale by militants with large arms and ammunition.

  2. A large number of terrorists were killed in retaliation that lasted for about three hours.

  3. No terrorist organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

  4. The Niger army is constantly at war with the militants of the terrorist organization Boko Haram.

  5. Niger President Isofu Mohammed returned back to Niger leaving his official Egypt tour in the middle.

Boko Haram is a jihadist terrorist organization based in northeastern Nigeria, also active in Chad, Niger and northern Cameroon. Founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, the group has been led by Abubakar Shekau since 2009. Since the insurgency started in 2009, Boko Haram has killed tens of thousands and displaced 2.3 million from their homes and was at one time the world’s deadliest terror group according to the Global Terrorism Index.
