
On Sunday, PV Sindhu defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in the BWF World Championships finals. She became the first Indian to win gold at the tournament. This is her 5th all-time medal at the tournament, the highest in women’s singles category in tournament history.

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian professional badminton player. She is the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships. She is also one of the two Indian badminton players to ever win an Olympic medal – the other being Saina Nehwal. Sindhu won silver medal in women’s singles at 2018 Commonwealth Games as well as 2018 Asian Games. She was also a silver medalist at the 2017 and the 2018 edition of BWF World Championships.
