On the directions of Rajasthan Home Ministry, the Ajmer district administration has issued a circular asking its employees to submit detailed information and self-declaration letters with any association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Crux of the Matter
The circular specifically asks every employee to submit self-declaration letters with their name, surname, department and the name of RSS branch to which they are associated with.
This step was taken after Gangapur MLA Ramkesh Meena raised a query in July on government employees’ association with the RSS.
The circular was issued by the Additional District Collector Kailash Chandra Sharma. The home ministry also directed all district collectors to collect this information.
The Additional District collector said, “the information had been sought to prepare a reply to the question asked in the Assembly.”
Criticising the circular MLA from North Ajmer Vasudev Devnani termed it “unconstitutional” and said, “RSS is a socio-cultural organisation and such vendetta politics will not be tolerated.”
