The discovery of a special relation between electrons and crystal lattices can be the foundation stone for error-free computing. ‘The State of India’s Birds 2020’ report stated that India’s bird population has been declining at an alarming rate. NASA has raised white flag to its Martian mission competitor SpaceX. Great Barrier Reef is on the verge of third major coral bleaching in a span of only 5 years. Google has taken strict action against apps that tracked user location even from the background. Have a quick roundup of what happened in India and across the globe by clicking the top stories of the week:

  1. Time Crystals And Superconductors Form Power Pair For Quantum Computing – Researchers have discovered special interactions between electrons and crystal lattices inside superconducting metals via time crystals for the first time. This finding, that can radically transform the technology of the future including error-free quantum computers, has been published in the highly regarded journal Science Advances.

  2. Bird Population Faces A Fierce Downfall In The Land Of Peacocks – According to a latest study ‘The State of India’s Birds 2020’, hundreds of birds in India are disappearing at an alarming rate. The report relied on the observations of more than 15,000 birdwatchers, who helped assess the status of 867 birds. Researchers examined trends over a 25-year period, and subsequently over the last five years, and in both cases found the numbers had declined.

  3. NASA Raises White Flag To SpaceX In The Race To Mars – In an interview with Polish publication WP Magazyn, NASA’s Dr. Robert Zubrin admitted that the Elon Musk-led space company SpaceX will reach Mars before NASA. Musk is reportedly planning to launch his mission to establish an outpost on the red planet by 2023 and subsequently send humans in times ahead.

  4. The Great Barrier Reef Becomes Potential Target For Bleaching Event – According to reports published in the British daily Guardian, Environmentalists have predicted a third major coral bleaching event in five years for the world’s largest coral reef system, Great Barrier Reef. This would intensify if ocean temperatures continue to rise in the next two weeks, as per scientists working in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

  5. With Strict Google Review, Time’s Up For Sneaky Location Tracking Apps – Applicable from 3 August 2020, Google Inc. has decided to place new restrictions on Android apps that can track your location in the background. The American Multinational Tech company would have a new review process. It will check whether an app needs access to the data or not depending on a set number of factors, before granting approval to them. The changes were announced earlier this week, in a blog post to Android developers.
