Strong Measures as SC Set to Give Verdict on Ayodhya

After a marathon hearing of 40 days, the CJI led Supreme Court bench is scheduled to give its verdict in the politically sensitive case of Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute on 9th November at 10:30 am.


Crux of the Matter


  1. Uttar Pradesh Government has imposed Section 144 across the state and also ordered all schools, colleges, educational institutions to remain closed from Saturday to Monday.

  2. The district magistrate has barred “victory celebrations” and “mourning processions” after the verdict.

  3. Nearly 1659 anti-social elements are being watched online; out of which 70 have been arrested.

  4. 4000 paramilitary forces along with 30 bomb squads rushed to UP with multi-layer security arrangements near the disputed site and drones used to monitor all activities.

  5. Section 144 has been imposed in entire Jammu and Kashmir.

  6. Schools will remain shut in Delhi and Karnataka. Karnataka government has also announced dry day.

  7. Centre has put all states on high alert with all state governments asking the public to maintain peace.

  8. There will be a strict watch on all social media platforms to avoid any rumours that may hurt religious sentiments.

Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of 1973 prohibits the assembly of four or more people in an area. According to the law, every member of such ‘unlawful assembly’ can be booked for engaging in rioting.
