Univ Students Uproar in Protest of Casteist Remarks by 2 MCU Professors, 23 Expelled

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication of Bhopal saw myriads of protestors flocking on the campus gate. These protestors demanded the restoration of the expulsion of 23 students who protested against the casteist remarks on twitter by two of University’s professors, Dilip Mandal and Mukesh Kumar.


Crux of the Matter


  1. Allegedly 23 students protested and went on strike on the campus of Makhanlal University of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The protest was against the casteist remarks on twitter made by two of the University’s professors, Dilip Mandal and Mukesh Kumar.

  2. University called the police and filed a case against the students on the grounds of obstructing official work and other sections. It is also alleged that the students were beaten up by police.

  3. The students were expelled from the university and were barred from sitting in the examination or in the classes.

  4. Former CM Shivraj Singh condemned the University authorities for letting the police use force on the students.

  5. While expulsion of 3 students has been cancelled, ABVP protestors flocked outside the University gate demanding the cancellation of the expulsion of all students. Following this, University authorities again called the police, whereas the protestors were adamant to not leave the place until all students were reinstated.
